The Rolls Royce Ghost Series II looks more flamboyant in the new avatar, while the interiors have been spruced up further to engulf the passenger in complete luxury.
Bringing aristocracy, flamboyance and regality to its privileged owners, BMW Group’s luxury arm Rolls-Royce has launched the facelifted Ghost Series II in India. The baby Rolls was first launched back in 2009 and this is the first comprehensive facelift that the Ghost has received.
First unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year for the European markets, Rolls-Royce will continue to bring in the Ghost Series II from its Goodwood Circuit, Sussex, UK in the country which now comes with a number of subtle changes to the exteriors, while the interiors have also been updates with even more equipment added to the list.
Starting with the aesthetics, the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II gets subtle updates to the headlight design that come from the two-door Wraith. The lights now feature a mildly curvaceous look with LED lights and have been bordered in daytime running lights. The bumpers have been revised to be more round and imposing, while the side character line has been designed to lean forward and ends softly.
The Ghost Series II also gets chrome inserts on the front air intakes, which now feed more cooling air to the front brakes. In addition, the sedan gets two new alloy wheel options, paint shades and a new rear bumper that completes the list of exterior upgrades.
Buyers on Rolls Royce Ghost Series II get seats with electronically adjustable thigh support for front passengers, while the rear seat has been redesigned to offer complete comfort. There are also new active headrests that offer protection against spinal injuries. You can also opt for the new lounge seat configuration that tilts the seats gently towards each other.
Apart from seating comfort, there is also a plethora of tech on offer including on-board Wi-Fi, updated car user interface and navigation systems with 10-inch multimedia screen, Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT) and a new Rotory controller touch pad function. The clock and instrument cluster have also received subtle enhancements and feature more chrome inserts.
The Rolls Royce Ghost Series II continues to draw power from the same 6.6-litre V12 engine that has been tuned to produce 563 HP of power and 780 Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox is satellite aided and predicts the driver’s next move and shifts or holds the gear accordingly. In terms of mechanicals the sedan features re-engineered front and rear struts, new steering gear and adjusted dampers. Rolls-Royce is also offering a ‘Dynamic Driving’ package that offers more direct steering and reduced body roll.
Luxuriously fast has always been the case with every Rolls Royce Ghost Series II is no different. The 0-100 km/hr sprint comes up in 4.7 seconds, while the top speed is rated at an electronically limited 250 km/hr.
With a plethora of optional equipment on offer and a whole lot of customization options, the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II lets you make a statement in any colour of your choice. Moreover, the added features make sure that you do not compromise on luxury, while the overwhelming ride quality will seldom remind you about the actual conditions of the Indian roads. The cherry on the cake, the 6.6-litre engine is extremely powerful, yet noiseless and does seem right for the car of this stature.
